Take Heart

Connecting families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder - Playgroup/ Lego Club / Library / Support

Take Heart was established in 2011 to help families of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) find a sense of belonging and comfort throught the diagnosis and subsequent challenges faced when raising an ASD kid.

We believe that our kids are amazing people, who with amazing support and encouragement can do amazing things. They may even teach us a few things too!

Take Heart operates playgroup onWednesday mornings (during school terms). We are open to all children of all ages, but do encourage parents of children with an ASD or ASD-like symptoms to come along.

Our program is a little different to some playgroups and the children are encouraged to experience gross motor, fine motor and sensory activities. So beware because things can get a bit messy!

In 2012 we will be offering a library service to our families and currently have various materials like:
Board Maker
Inflatable Trapoline (Gross motor)
Sand and Water Table (fine motor and sensory)
Parent approved selection of reading materials and parenting strategies

We aim to build our library over time and are hoping to apply for funding (private/public) for a playground for our kids too.

We have also started a monthly support group - Take Time, which operates the last Friday of every month 10am - 11am. Creche is provided, but please call Katy on 0408 600 463 by the Wednesday prior to book.
